Manchester United vs. Real Madrid, UEFA Super Cup 2017

Manchester United open their competitive account for the season in the UEFA Super Cup final against Champions League winners Real Madrid.

The game between the Europa League winners, United, and Real Madrid will take place at the Philip II Arena in Skopje, Macedonia.

United will be looking for only their second Super Cup triumph in their history. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be looking to add a fourth to their trophy cabinet.

The match, commonly known as ‘the cup winner cup final’ is the first chance for Jose Mourinho and United to launch their bid to win all five trophies on offer to them this season.

Antonio Valencia described the match as ‘reaching our first objective’.
He said ‘we are motivated, we are working hard, we are concentrated and we are hopeful that we can reach our goal of lifting the trophy in Macedonia’.

The game takes place on Tuesday 8th August at 7.45pm UK time.

The match will be televised live on BT Sport 2. Highlights will be available on ITV1.

The game is available for live streaming via the BT Sport app.

The notable absentees for United are Ashley Young with a hamstring injury and Luke Shaw.

They join Marcos Rojo who is a long term absentee due to his ACL injury last season.

Otherwise, Jose Mourinho has a fully fit squad to choose from including new signings Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof.

However, players may be rested due to United starting their Premier League campaign against West Ham on Sunday.
